Netflix Dahmer is one of my favorite show here’s why. When I watch true crimes I never really feel connect or understand how terrible it is for the victims and their family. This show portraits their tremendous pain flawlessly, tony’s death and Somsak’s ptsd scene made my heart ached. Now when I watch true crimes it’s not just about the killers anymore for me. So I think the show wasn’t made to glorify Dahmer, the show wanted victims to be seen more like that. I get that a lot of people will curse this show until their last breath but hey the show made me feel sympathy for the victims so I guess it worked😅

Both films have a cult culture as their main theme. Aster's ouevre in both manifested emotional trauma, bucolic landscapes, daytime horror (Polanski) to taunt the audience into a nightmare-scape where nothing is what it seems. J'adore Aster!

To be honest, it's the best Kaiju film out there! This film has lots of suspense and tension in it that gives off ‘A Quiet Place’ vibes!

I argue that the reason this show became so disgustingly popular and garnered so much attention was because it was a different depiction of this story. Everybody knows about the killer. Everybody knows about him. They've heard about what he's done, and what drove him there. But to actually see it acted out, to be there as the actions occur? It's something they've never seen before. To witness what it is that he did, nobody has ever seen that before. And that sick fetish is why this whole realm of media should not exist. It's a fetish. They're intrigued by it and want to try and become so intertwined with it so that they can replicate and semblance of what was felt in this not so distant past. I'm sick of it. Search up his name, and you'll see so many people trying to give the why's and how's to his existence. But search up any of the victims. You'll see nothing about who they were, only the way they were killed. It's a sick fetish. Like listen to this, there are literal subreddits of people even arguing if any of the victims were actually killed! Trying to paint that person as someone who was framed. I don't know what I even have to say more in response to that depravity. It's sick, and I will be that person to say that generally, this show's lapses in morality makes it inherently a horrible show. One of the worst. Push the art aside and get real.

what I hated a lot was people were BLAMING Tony Hughes for his death bc he went back for his keys. He was going to die anyway when he came back after he left for the weekend. It wasn't his fault, it never was any of the victim's fault.

You know, this is the first criticism of this movie that doesn't amount to, either being as stupid as Miles, or the next attempt to say how much that person wants to shove Musk down their own thought.

Who is it for? The creator, obviously. Oh, and for money, of course. A lot of media nowadays is just creatives doing only what they want it to be, often while mooching off of pre-existing things (no matter if it's a real event or other piece of media). It's basically just high-budget fan fiction for the creator. Star Wars 8, modern Disney, Velma TV series, Madame Web, most horror reboots etc. all come to mind as something like this.

I seriously wish with the one that survived they went into his background to at least make him feel more human rather than a stepping stone. They really minimized the victims in this which is by far the biggest flaw.

I must admit, when I first watched it the first few times, I didn’t understand the hype, either. I legit had no interest. I watched it again around 2015 when my son wanted to watch something scary and that’s when I started to LOVE it haha.

It’s far better in 3D, it was shot with 3D lenses and built from the ground up to be seen that way, it adds a whole new dimension to the film quite literally

Its funny cos mi mum thought that WARNER BROTHERS stopped raping people after they were warned in the 70 s. But this film had my Great Aunty Pam in it and My Grandma (Maudsley both) and my mum is Coraline. My family are the family that the film, the clockwork orange, rapes. It was a real rape and we're really still alive. The theatre that this film knows of is the Palladium in Morecambe, and it was a Matane act, before the film came on, just so you know! What a claim to fame!!

We created horror movies and creepypastas to give ourselves murderers to romanticize, so let's fcking stick to those instead of pining for a queer man who touched and killed kids. It's like some of y'all have zero concept of what's fiction and what isn't, which is why this show was made in the first place, because a bunch of out of touch people decided to capitalize off of very real, very tragic events with no consideration for the victims and their families.

Wow i've never seen a video essay that i've disagreed with more than this one. ANd this comment section is just a mess of virtue signallers to boot. Just Terrible. Dahmer was an excellent show that examined the impact of Dahmer on his victims and on the people around him. It did not sensationalize or glorify his actions in the slightest. It was respectful. An entire episode was dedicated to his neighbour ffs. You people just want something to moan about at this point.

You say nothing about how Violet has to do the hard thing and resist her feelings for Tate because he's not a good guy and not good for her. From experience, many dangerous men are just like Tate- both victims and victimizers.

i liked the later half of the show, where they focused more on the victims.

Why couldn't they frame it as every episode following the victims? frame it like each victim is our main character with Dahmer being the monster he is? It's more about the atrocities done to innocent people, and we get him being caught by a victim who escaped, and then the 'second half' can be the law enforcement's pov when interviewing him. Wanting the focus to be on the victims and not Dahmer isn't really fucking hard.

Someone needs to make a spiritual successor to this kinds of games, as there is nothing like them to this day, at least to my understanding. I had an idea for a rhythm game inspired by Vib Ribbon, that uses a Y2K visual style with white foreground and changing colour visualiser background. It would use parkour style movement that would use the face buttons for multiple tasks based around four various types of movement: Jump, kick, grab and trick. There would be sections where you would be up in the air with angel wings, navigating through the clouds with flappy bird type controls. As well as section when your underwater where you're a merman or mermaid with swimming controls of modern Donkey Kong Country, going through rings and dodging obstacles. The health system would be measured by your characters style, which would reflect your characters look. Low on health would have it look worn and filthy, but increasing the all rounded health would have it bling with style. Unfortunately, I cannot think of a catchy tutorial music for this game, but I don't intend it to be nearly as scary as the source of inspiration. Seriously, I feel like I'm the only one who always gets the heebie jeebles when I hear that tutorial song! That's why I'm the only one who is glad Caddicarus doesn't do those fun facts anymore!

Some series do well going back and forth in their timelines. This one was terrible at it. I wanted to quit watching so badly by the time of Lexi’s play, which was the finale of the season so that’s pretty sad. I only just watched the series much later than most who watched it and have had to wait longer for a season 3, and I still doubt I’ll watch the third season. Best character of the whole show won’t even be in it.

I think the show itself was near perfect, the progression, and yes even his origin story. I do think there was a good amount regarding the victims. But if it were me I might would have done a follow up documentary about the victims

OH FINALLY SOMEONE WHO THINKS LIKE ME!!!! most around me love it and i just cannot possibly, i attempted, excitedly to watch and enjoy EVERY single season, every time one came out, cause the aesthetics slays and I'm all for Americana - its exotic to me and i like that, but i cant stand any. I cannot stand them absolutely. There is both too much plots n too many characters and yet it is insanely boring and long and torturously numb. The shockers either fall flat or disgust me at best. Also like this season was notoriously horrible with the mental health exploitation, and dehumanises characters, shows so much horrible horrible things MANY OF ONES I WENT THROUGH PERSONALLY OR MY CLOSE FRIENDS DID OR MY FAMILY HAHHAHA to profit off it. And for my neurological condition it was equallt bad lmao. What the hell is the issue why does this show exist and do well? Shock value and Americana does not make a whole show lmao
